Georgia Murder Suspect Samuel Lewis Arrested in Florida

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A man wanted for murder and burglary in Georgia was apprehended in Florida after advanced car technology helped police track a stolen vehicle. The arrest occurred on Wednesday when a Riviera Beach police officer, patrolling near Silver Beach Road, received an alert about a stolen silver Ford Taurus with a Georgia license plate.

Using real-time alerts from stolen car technology, the officer quickly identified the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Inside the car were Samuel Lewis, the suspected driver, and a female passenger. A search of the vehicle uncovered a black revolver and ammunition. Further investigation revealed that Lewis had stolen the vehicle during a burglary in Georgia before fleeing to Florida.

Police later confirmed that Lewis had an active warrant for both burglary and murder, tied to a crime in Midville, Georgia. The U.S. Marshals had been searching for him before his capture in Florida.
