Gary Steele & Eric Conley Arrested After Police Chase

Two men were arrested in Fairfield on Wednesday after leading deputies on a police chase in a stolen vehicle.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that officers attempted to stop a red Dodge Charger reported stolen. However, the driver refused to comply, continuing until reaching the 100 block of 57th Street, where both occupants abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Law enforcement quickly apprehended them.

The driver, 34-year-old Gary Andre Steele, faces multiple charges, including Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Burglary 2nd Degree, and Receiving Stolen Property. Steele’s total bond was set at $59,000, and he is currently out on bond from the Jefferson County Jail.

The passenger, 36-year-old Eric Deeon Conley, was charged with Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, Drug Trafficking, and Burglary 2nd Degree. His bond was set at $101,000, and he remains in custody.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident and urge the public to report any suspicious activity.
