Gary Day Faces Felony Charges in Amber Alert Case for Sophia Franklin

Authorities have filed four felony charges against Gary Day, the suspect involved in the ongoing Amber Alert for 16-year-old Sophia Martha Franklin, who is pregnant and missing from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

On Tuesday, the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office charged Day with two felony counts of Abduction of a Child and two counts of Child Enticement-Causing Mental/Bodily Harm. These charges are linked to incidents on July 29, 2024, and February 3, 2025.

Franklin was last seen at her residence on February 2, 2025, at 9 p.m., and was reported missing the following day. The Amber Alert, which initially went out in Wisconsin, was extended to Arkansas on February 6 as authorities believe Franklin is with Day, who is known to be the father of her unborn child.

Video footage from a home security system showed an individual matching Day’s description near Franklin’s home early on February 3. Authorities also discovered a black Buick vehicle linked to Day’s mother, seen near Franklin’s residence before the incident. Further investigation revealed the same vehicle traveling on Highway 151, providing more evidence of Day’s involvement.

Day has an extensive criminal history, including a previous felony charge in 2019 for endangering the welfare of a child, and charges related to domestic violence. His recent legal troubles include interference with custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in Arkansas.

Authorities are continuing their search for Day and Franklin, urging anyone with information to come forward.
