Garnett A. Rocchi Arrested for Stealing Explosives in Wyoming County

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The West Virginia State Police have arrested Garnett A. Rocchi, 40, of Bluefield, following an ongoing investigation into the theft of explosives from a Wyoming County mining operation.

The investigation began in December after it was revealed that a significant amount of explosive material had been stolen from the Bluestone Coal Site 34, located at Burke Mountain in Wyoming County.

Corporal M.C. Shifflette, who led the investigation, identified Rocchi as a suspect. Rocchi was arrested on Wednesday and charged with possession of stolen explosives material.

The investigation is still ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge.
