Loveland, CO – Authorities have arrested 59-year-old Garland Jay Coblentz of Loveland, in connection to the attempted robbery of First National Bank on December 17, 2024. The Loveland Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division worked diligently to gather evidence, which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant on January 3, 2025.
Through coordinated efforts between the Loveland Police Department’s Criminal Impact Unit and the Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office, Coblentz was located and taken into custody on January 8, 2025.
The attempted robbery took place at First National Bank, located at 750 N. Lincoln Avenue, sparking an extensive investigation. Tips from the community and cooperation between law enforcement agencies were vital in solving the case. The Loveland Police Department acknowledged the significant role that the Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office played in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the operation.
Coblentz is currently being held without bond at the Gunnison County Jail and faces a Class 5 felony charge of Attempted Robbery under Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S. 18-4-301).
