Gaithersburg Man Arrested for Multiple Auto Thefts

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 26-year-old man, Oscar Rodriguez Hernandez, has been arrested for multiple thefts from autos in Gaithersburg. Police suspect there may be additional victims yet to come forward.

The arrest occurred on the night of Tuesday, February 4, 2025, around 10:00 p.m., after officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Station responded to a theft from auto call near Parkvale and Norbeck Roads. The officers reviewed home video surveillance footage and quickly identified Rodriguez Hernandez as the suspect.

Rodriguez Hernandez, who has no fixed address, was arrested without incident at the scene. Upon his arrest, police recovered multiple items of evidentiary value, and the suspect admitted to breaking into several vehicles before being taken into custody.

Authorities believe there may be other victims who had their cars broken into by Rodriguez Hernandez. Anyone who believes they may have been a victim is urged to contact the 4th District at 240-773-5500.
