CHEYENNE, Wyoming – A 19-year-old transient was arrested early Tuesday morning after leading Cheyenne police officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle.
At approximately 1:10 a.m., a Cheyenne police officer observed a white utility van running a red light while turning onto East Pershing Boulevard. It was later determined that the van had been stolen from Laramie.
The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver, identified as Gabriel Myers, refused to pull over. Myers proceeded to drive recklessly, ignoring stop signs and endangering others on the road. The pursuit ended when Myers crashed the stolen van into three unoccupied parked vehicles in the 1400 block of West 32nd Street.
Following the crash, Myers fled on foot, but additional officers quickly arrived and apprehended him. He was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for medical clearance due to the crash before being taken into custody.
Myers now faces multiple charges, including:
Motor vehicle theft
Reckless driving
Fleeing and eluding
Duty to stop after a crash
Failure to obey traffic control signals
Failure to stop at a stop sign
Obstructed license plate
He was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center, where he remains in custody.
