Four UP Men Arrested in Honnali for Planning Bank Robbery

Four men from Uttar Pradesh were arrested on Sunday by the police in Honnali taluk, Karnataka, for allegedly planning a bank robbery in the region. The accused—Guddu, Hazrath Ali, Aslam, and Kamruddin—were caught after the police intercepted their plans.

The police seized several items from the suspects, including an iron rod, regulator, chilli powder, hand gloves, and two cars. During the operation, one of the suspects tried to escape after attacking the police team. In the ensuing struggle, the police shot him in the leg. A police constable was also injured in the attack.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individuals had been involved in multiple bank robberies across several states, including Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh. The suspects had reportedly arrived in Karnataka a few days prior to plan the robbery in Honnali taluk.

According to a senior police officer, the police received intelligence about the men traveling in two vehicles with Uttar Pradesh registration. Based on this information, the police set up a check post. When the suspects’ vehicles passed by the check post without stopping despite warnings, the police gave chase and arrested them.

The suspects are currently under investigation for their involvement in other robbery cases, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
