Montgomery County, Md. (DC News Now) — Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) officers arrested four individuals on Monday following two separate incidents involving theft and robbery in Silver Spring.
At around 8:15 p.m., officers were working in downtown Silver Spring when they were called to the H&M store on Fenton Street after a theft was reported. According to police, two men stole clothing from the store and fled the scene. Officers quickly spotted the suspects in plain clothes, and after a lengthy foot pursuit, they successfully apprehended the suspects. The two men were charged with theft, resisting arrest, and other related charges. They were held on a $100 bond.
Approximately 40 minutes later, officers responded to the 8600 block of Colesville Road, where a man reported being approached by two women who attempted to steal money and assaulted him. Police located the suspects, identified as 28-year-old Dana Brown of Derwood and 31-year-old Shyniqua Mooney of Silver Spring. When officers tried to arrest them, the women resisted, but they were eventually taken into custody. Brown and Mooney were charged with robbery and resisting arrest and were held without bond.
All four suspects were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit for further processing.
