Four Men Jailed for Heroin and Cocaine Supply in Peterborough

Four men have been jailed after being involved in a major drug supply operation in Peterborough. The group was arrested on May 17, 2023, following a tip-off to police, which led officers to a flat at Bayard Plaza in Broadway. Inside, they discovered a stash of heroin and cocaine worth £76,150, hidden inside a drawstring bag that had been thrown onto a flat roof.

The four men were part of the so-called “ghost” drug dealing line, responsible for distributing Class A drugs. They all admitted to being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, and were sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday.

The sentences were as follows:

  • Zorhib Hussain, 27, of Millfield, Peterborough, was sentenced to six years and nine months.
  • Hassan Nazir, 25, of Bedford, was sentenced to six years and seven months.
  • Safyaan Khan, 19, of Millfield, Peterborough, was jailed for four years and five months.
  • Zayn Ali, 28, of Longthorpe, Peterborough, received three years in prison.

Hussain, who had been renting the flat for £3,100 per month, was arrested attempting to leave the scene in a white BMW X7. Nazir was found by police in a communal hallway, while Khan and Ali were arrested at their homes that same day.

Along with the drugs, police seized £2,480 in cash and six mobile phones. Hussain and Nazir each received sentences of over six years, while Khan and Ali were sentenced to lesser terms.

As part of Operation Tsunami, which targets drug supply networks, 18 people have now been jailed. Detective Constable Lucy Carter emphasized the strength of the evidence against the men, highlighting the significant financial gain from their illegal activities.

In addition to their involvement in drug supply, Hussain admitted to six charges of supplying crack cocaine, while Ali admitted four counts of the same offense. Khan was also found in possession of cannabis and an offensive weapon — an extendable baton — during his arrest.

The investigation and arrests have been hailed as a significant disruption to the drug supply network in Peterborough, with police encouraging the public to continue providing information to help combat such crimes.
