Four Men Arrested for Stealing $100,000 Worth of Packages

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested four men on Tuesday after they were caught stealing packages from a FedEx facility at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The airport has been plagued by thefts totaling millions of dollars in recent months.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Datari Damarcus Francois, 23, Devin Matthew J Holmes, 23, Devon Montrel Holmes, 21, and Michael Bernard Torrence, 25. The theft was part of a larger series of incidents that have cost the facility approximately $6 million in stolen goods.

According to the BSO report, deputies had been monitoring the FedEx hub, located at 1000 SW 34th St., after reports of thefts involving electronic merchandise. At around 1:20 a.m., deputies saw Torrence park a black Dodge Durango near the shipping facility and approach the area. They observed him and Devon Holmes removing packages from a trailer bay before giving the signal to make an arrest.

Upon arrest, deputies discovered Francois and Devin Holmes in the backseat of the Escalade, and found a firearm in the vehicle. The men had stolen 44 boxes, worth at least $100,000 in total.

The suspects now face multiple charges, including first-degree grand theft and burglary.
