Four Drug Peddlers Arrested in Kulgam and Budgam with Contraband

Four drug peddlers were arrested by the police in Kulgam and Budgam on Monday, with significant amounts of contraband substances seized. According to an official statement, the police operations led to the recovery of poppy straw, cannabis, and a brown sugar-like substance from the suspects’ possession.

In Upper Bazar Qazigund, Mudasir Ahmad Itoo, son-in-law of Manzoor Ahmad Itoo from Kurigam, was arrested after the police recovered two kgs of poppy straw and six grams of a brown sugar-like substance from him.

In Budgam, Bashir Ahmad Hajam, son of Noor Mohammad Hajam from Wadwan, was apprehended after the police found 3.827 kg of semi-grinded cannabis-like substance in his possession at Nadigam-Wadwan Crossing.

At Samsan Crossing, two more individuals, Mohammad Yousuf Beigh, son of Mohammad Ramzan Beigh from Gund Ali Naik, and Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Dar from Kathwara Budgam, were arrested. The police recovered seven sticks of cannabis-like substance wrapped in corn husk (weighing about 135 grams) and 850 grams of semi-grinded cannabis from them.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations in Kulgam and Budgam, and investigations are underway.
