Four Chilean nationals were arrested on January 10, 2025, in connection with a burglary at Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s home, according to court records. The theft occurred on December 9, 2024, at Burrow’s multi-million-dollar residence in Hamilton County, Ohio.
The arrests were made after a special agent with the Ohio State Highway Patrol noticed suspicious luggage being carried into a vehicle outside a hotel in Fairborn, Ohio. Upon further inspection, the vehicle was pulled over, and the occupants – identified as Alexander Chavez, Bastian Morales, Jordan Sanchez, and Sergio Cabello – presented fake identification, and the car emitted the smell of marijuana. It was later confirmed that the suspects were in the country illegally.
A search of the car revealed tools commonly used by South American theft groups, including “two Husky automatic center punch pools” wrapped in a cloth towel. These tools are often used to break glass and gain access to residences. Police also found an old LSU shirt and a Bengals hat, which they believe were stolen during the December burglary at Burrow’s home.
Further investigation revealed that Morales’ phone number matched one that had been placed at the scene of the burglary, and Morales was previously identified as a person of interest in the case. Morales was also seen carrying a Louis Vuitton-style bag, which further linked him to the crime.
“This is an ongoing investigation involving multiple burglaries across the United States, specifically targeting multi-million-dollar residences,” stated a criminal complaint. Investigators have already arrested six South American burglary groups, five of which were Chilean nationals.
The suspects are currently being questioned as part of a broader investigation into a series of high-profile burglaries targeting wealthy homes across the U.S.
Additional Charges and Legal Proceedings
The suspects are facing multiple charges related to burglary, theft, and illegal entry into the United States. Investigators believe this group may be connected to other similar crimes across the country. The case is still under active investigation.
