Police have arrested four individuals, including a juvenile, for a series of thefts executed at wedding functions in Ludhiana. The group is accused of stealing a bag containing cash and jewelry from a resort in the Dehlon area during a wedding ceremony.
The arrested suspects include Baadal, 22, Vishal Sisodia (alias Sonu), 32, and Kanahiya Lal, 32, all residents of the Rajgarh area in Madhya Pradesh, along with a 12-year-old boy. The victim, Sikandar Singh, 56, from Raniyan village, reported the theft, stating that the bag he carried, which contained cash and shagun envelopes for his daughter’s wedding, was stolen.
The police apprehended the suspects near Vardhman Chowk while they were waiting for a potential buyer for the stolen jewelry. ADCP (Investigation) Amandeep Singh Brar explained, “The accused traveled from Madhya Pradesh to Ludhiana, rented a house in Gurbagh Colony, infiltrated wedding events, stole cash and gold, and took refuge at their rented residence.”
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of thefts at large gatherings, prompting authorities to increase vigilance during wedding seasons.
