Coimbatore city cybercrime police have arrested four individuals from Rajasthan for allegedly defrauding a Coimbatore-based man of Rs9.28 lakh in an online scam. The accused, identified as J. Sathyanarayanan (30), K. Kisan Choudhary (20), K. Sunil Saran (23), and P. Sandeep Kumar (26), were arrested on August 22 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, after an investigation by the Coimbatore Cybercrime Police.
According to Police Inspector P.A. Arun, the cybercrime team conducted a detailed investigation into the online fraud, which involved the suspects cheating the victim through deceptive online methods. The four men were reportedly operating out of Rajasthan, and their activities targeted individuals like the victim, who were tricked into transferring money.
The police were able to track down the accused and apprehend them in Jodhpur, bringing an end to the scam that left the victim out of a significant amount of money.
This arrest is part of the ongoing efforts by cybercrime units to combat online fraud, which has seen a significant rise in recent years, affecting people across India. The police have advised the public to exercise caution when dealing with online transactions and to verify the legitimacy of any offer that asks for money or personal details.
