Four Arrested for Murder of Co-Worker Over Oil Theft Dispute at NINL

In a shocking development, the Kalinga Nagar police have arrested four workers of the Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL) plant for allegedly murdering their co-worker, Silu Pradhan, over a dispute concerning the proceeds of oil theft. The victim’s decomposed body was found buried on the plant’s premises two days after the incident.

The accused – Tarini Prasad Mohanty, Jagdish Mohanta, Padmalochan Mohanta, and Alok Patra – were all employed at the plant through a vendor, Satyam Enterprises, working alongside Silu. According to police, the group had been involved in stealing oil from the plant, and the stolen oil’s proceeds were being shared equally among them. However, trouble began when Silu, who had been absent from the plant for three weeks, returned on October 30 and demanded his share of the oil theft proceeds.

A confrontation broke out between Silu and the accused, leading to a violent dispute. In the heat of the argument, the accused allegedly killed Silu and buried his body near the batching unit on the same night.

Kalinga Nagar IIC Prakash Chandra Sahoo confirmed that the victim’s body was found naked, with his hands and legs tied with rope. The authorities have now arrested the suspects, and further investigations are underway to uncover the full scope of the oil theft operations at the plant.
