Four Arrested After Armed SUV Theft and Police Chase in Lincoln

Lincoln, Neb. — Four people were arrested Friday night after an armed theft and a police pursuit through Lincoln, authorities reported.

The incident began at approximately 9:15 p.m. outside Mum’s Liquor near 22nd and O streets. A 42-year-old man from Chapman reported that his 2014 white GMC Terrain had been stolen by three individuals. Earlier in the day, the victim had picked up two of the suspects, Halona Bearkiller, 27, and Rosemary Hart, 33, before they later picked up the third suspect, Michael Miller, 36. While sitting in the vehicle outside the liquor store, Miller allegedly revealed he had a weapon and forced the victim out of the SUV. The suspects then fled the scene.

Police located the stolen vehicle near North 27th and W streets and initiated a traffic stop. According to the Lincoln Police Department, Bearkiller, who was driving, led officers on a pursuit, running multiple traffic signals and driving through residential areas at speeds of up to 65 mph. The chase ended near 59th and Holdrege streets, where all four suspects were taken into custody.

During the search, Bearkiller was found in possession of 1.3 grams of cocaine, a knife, and the victim’s bank cards. Bearkiller was charged with robbery, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, and fleeing to avoid arrest.

Hart and Miller were both charged with robbery, while Phillips, 39, was arrested on warrants. All four suspects were lodged in the Lancaster County Jail.
