Fort Myers Man Arrested for Stealing Bag with Kitten Inside

A Fort Myers man was arrested on Thursday, January 30, after he allegedly stole a woman’s bag containing a one-month-old kitten. The incident occurred near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Palm Avenue, where the victim reported her belongings were stolen.

Following the report, detectives tracked down the suspect’s last known location and discovered the woman’s stolen items inside an abandoned vehicle. As investigators searched the vehicle, they were surprised when a kitten emerged from underneath the car and approached them.

The victim confirmed the kitten was among the stolen items, along with other belongings found by the police. The kitten was safely returned to its owner.

Benjamin Cummings, 34, was arrested and charged with robbery, though no firearms or weapons were involved, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.
