Geauga County, OH — Louis Cirino, a former football coach and teacher at Strongsville and West Geauga Local Schools, was sentenced Friday in the Geauga County Court of Common Pleas for his involvement in a sexual offense with a minor student. Cirino, 41, of Chesterland, was sentenced to six months in county jail and two years of probation.
Judge David Ondrey also ordered Cirino to register as a Tier 1 sex offender for 15 years. As part of this designation, Cirino is prohibited from living within 1,000 feet of a school or childcare facility.
In November, Cirino pleaded guilty to gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, for having an inappropriate relationship with a minor student between December 2009 and December 2010.
Cirino was secretly indicted by a Geauga County Grand Jury on March 28, 2023, and arrested on April 12. His employment history shows he worked in the West Geauga School District from 2007 until June 2017, before joining Strongsville City Schools in August 2017. He served as the head football coach and a teacher in Strongsville until his resignation on May 21, 2023.
The case highlights the ongoing concerns around safeguarding students and maintaining safety within educational environments.
