Former Talbot County Sheriff Justin Johnson Charged in Arson Case

A years-long investigation into a house fire in Talbot County has resulted in the arrest of three individuals, including former Talbot County Sheriff Justin Johnson. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested Johnson, who now faces charges of first-degree arson, conspiracy to commit a crime, and insurance fraud.

In addition to Johnson, 62-year-old Wallace Copeland and 70-year-old Jimmy Buchanan, both from Manchester, were arrested on Friday. They have been charged with arson and conspiracy to commit arson in connection to the November 2023 fire on Turkey Roost Lane in Shiloh, Georgia.

The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are continuing to work on gathering more information related to the fire.
