Former Richmond Sanitary District Clerk Charged with Stealing Hundreds of Thousands in Public Funds
Jennifer Wilson, 47, a former clerk for the Richmond Sanitary District, is facing serious legal charges after allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in public funds over the span of more than six years. Wilson has been formally charged with 16 felony counts, including theft and official misconduct, according to court records.

How the Theft Was Uncovered
Wilson is accused of skimming money from customer deposits collected by the sanitary district, with the total theft amounting to more than $800,000. Authorities allege that Wilson routinely took money while making bank deposits for the district, ultimately resulting in nearly 1,000 missing deposits.

The theft was uncovered after police received an anonymous tip in May 2023 about a potential employee stealing public funds from the sanitary district. The tip led to an investigation, during which authorities confronted Wilson about the missing money.

Initial Denial and Termination
Initially, Wilson denied any wrongdoing when confronted by her superiors. However, following the investigation, she was fired from her position. Court documents show that an arrest warrant has been issued for Wilson, and she now faces multiple felony charges for her alleged actions.
