Former Renown Urgent Care Employee Arrested for Fraud in Sparks

Yuliza Ruiz, a 27-year-old former employee of Renown Urgent Care in Sparks, Nevada, has been arrested on charges of fraud after stealing personal information from over 40 victims. The Sparks Police Department initiated an investigation in October 2024 after a victim reported unauthorized use of their credit card at local businesses and online.

Ruiz, who was terminated from her job upon investigators’ discovery of her actions, faces 42 counts related to obtaining and using the personal identity information of vulnerable individuals, along with numerous other charges involving credit card fraud.

The majority of victims affected by Ruiz’s actions are reported to be over the age of 60. Following the investigation, Ruiz was arrested after she voluntarily surrendered to authorities.

Renown Health, where Ruiz was employed, issued a statement expressing their commitment to patient privacy and security. The organization has launched an internal review of its security protocols and is notifying affected patients, offering credit monitoring services to those impacted.

Renown Health emphasized its dedication to maintaining trust and ensuring similar incidents do not occur in the future.
