A former police officer was arrested on Sunday morning after being caught stealing at the Target store in Hooksett. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Schleiden Meneide from Manchester, was detained by police after attempting to flee the scene.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when Hooksett police were called to Target regarding a man dressed in black and wearing a ski mask. The individual was suspected of involvement in prior thefts. Upon arrival, officers observed Meneide running toward a vehicle in the back parking lot. After apprehending him, officers discovered Target merchandise and a device used for removing security tags in his possession.
Meneide was charged with three Class A misdemeanors: theft, willful concealment, and possession of theft detection devices. Following his arrest, he was processed at the Hooksett Police Department and released on personal recognizance. A court appearance is scheduled for March 27 at Hooksett District Court.
Previous Misconduct and Employment History
Meneide, who served in the Hooksett Police Department from August 2019 to May 2023, resigned under a negotiated agreement with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office. His resignation allowed him to avoid criminal charges for misuse of the State Police On-Line Telecommunications System. Additionally, he was placed on the Exculpatory Evidence Schedule, also known as the Laurie List, and added to the national registry of decertified officers.
Before his tenure in Hooksett, Meneide worked for the Manchester Police Department, having been hired in March 2016.
Further Investigation Pending
The investigation into prior thefts remains ongoing, and authorities have indicated that additional charges may be brought against Meneide as more information comes to light.
