OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Euitt Sharp, a former officer at the Oklahoma County Detention Center (OCDC), has been arrested again on new charges following an earlier arrest for allegedly stealing money from inmates.
Sharp, who worked as a detention officer from 2014 until his firing earlier this month, faces charges of grand larceny and second-degree forgery. Investigators accuse him of stealing money from inmates on multiple occasions. In one instance, $2,000 was reportedly taken from an inmate.
The new charges come after Sharp’s initial arrest earlier in October, where he was suspected of stealing from inmates. According to the Oklahoma County Detention Center, Sharp would allegedly steal money from inmates and forge documents to manipulate the computer system, making it appear as if the inmates had not arrived with any money.
“Following the former Detention Officer’s arrest earlier this month, our Criminal Investigations Division continued to look into the case and presented new charges to the District Attorney’s Office,” said Brandi Garner, CEO of the Oklahoma County Detention Center. “We want to be clear: no one is above the law, and we are committed to maintaining the trust of the public and those in our care. Every action has consequences, and we will continue to ensure that anyone who violates that trust will be held fully accountable.”
Sharp has since been released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond. He is expected to face trial for the new charges, which include theft and forgery, further compounding the allegations of misconduct that led to his termination from the OCDC.
Authorities have stressed their commitment to maintaining transparency and upholding the integrity of the institution. Investigations into Sharp’s actions are ongoing, and the public is encouraged to report any information that may assist in the case.
