Former Huntington Officer Christopher Boyer Pleads to Sexual Battery

Boyer Sentenced to One Month in Jail After No-Contest Plea

by Sophia Bennett

WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Christopher Adam Boyer, a former Huntington police officer, has entered a no-contest plea to charges of sexual battery in Wayne County Circuit Court.

In 2022, Boyer, 36, was indicted by a Wayne County Grand Jury following an investigation by the West Virginia State Police. The indictment stemmed from an alleged incident that occurred around February 13, 2022. Police say Boyer resigned from his position with the Huntington Police Department on the same day the alleged incident took place.

Initially, Boyer faced more severe charges, including sexual assault and abuse involving a juvenile. However, in December 2024, he entered a no-contest plea to a misdemeanor charge of sexually motivated battery.

On Monday, Boyer was sentenced to 12 months in jail, but the judge suspended 11 months of the sentence, meaning he will only serve one month in jail. Additionally, he was sentenced to three years on probation and will be required to register as a sex offender.

A no-contest plea means Boyer accepts the conviction without admitting guilt, which allows for a conviction without the need for a trial.

This case remains under scrutiny, and more updates are expected. Stay tuned for further details on the WSAZ app.
