Former Gadsden Police Officer Skylar Strickland Arrested for Domestic Violence

RAINBOW CITY, AL (WBMA) — A former Gadsden Police officer, Skylar Strickland, was arrested early Sunday morning following an alleged domestic violence incident.

According to the Rainbow City Police Department, officers responded to a domestic violence call around 2:00 a.m. in the 3700 block of Rainbow Drive. Upon arriving at the scene, officers arrested the 24-year-old Strickland and took him into custody. He was transported to the Etowah County Jail and is facing charges related to assault involving a family member.

Strickland, who was a former officer with the Gadsden Police Department, was not on active duty at the time of his arrest. The Gadsden Police Department issued a statement confirming Strickland’s arrest and emphasized their commitment to fully cooperating with the Rainbow City Police Department’s investigation.

“We take this matter very seriously and are fully committed to cooperating with Rainbow City’s investigation. At the time of his arrest, Officer Strickland was not in an active enforcement role within the department. To protect the integrity of the investigation, no additional details will be provided at this time,” the Gadsden Police Department stated.

Strickland remains in custody as the investigation continues.
