Former Ayden Police Officer and Son Sentenced for Drug Trafficking

A former Ayden Police Department officer and his son have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in drug trafficking activities that spanned 2021 and 2022. According to the Department of Justice, Charles Page, 52, and his son Treyvon Ladonte Page, 29, were sentenced to 48 months and 120 months in prison, respectively, after being convicted of crimes related to the distribution of illegal drugs.

U.S. Attorney Michael F. Easley, Jr. stated, “This police lieutenant, a 13-year veteran of the force, used his official position to access confidential databases and share intelligence to advance his son’s drug trafficking.” He emphasized that public officials who breach the public’s trust to assist criminals, even family members, will be held accountable.

The investigation into the Pages began in July 2021 when law enforcement was alerted that Treyvon Page was distributing cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana in Pitt County. Over the next year, authorities conducted 15 controlled drug purchases from Treyvon, which included heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

In 2022, surveillance showed Treyvon visiting a residence in Grifton, North Carolina, which was linked to his father, Charles Page, who was serving as a lieutenant with the Ayden Police Department at the time.

On September 20, 2022, law enforcement executed search warrants across Pitt County, including at the residence of Charles Page. There, they seized 167 grams of methamphetamine, 72 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of crack cocaine, and three shotguns.

Further investigation revealed that Charles Page was fully aware of his son’s trafficking activities. Treyvon frequently contacted his father for confidential law enforcement information about ongoing drug trafficking investigations. A search of Charles Page’s phone confirmed this, revealing multiple instances where he provided Treyvon with sensitive details, including active warrants and the identities of victims.

In response to the investigation, Charles Page resigned from his position at the Ayden Police Department. The probe also uncovered his repeated misuse of law enforcement databases, where he queried information on his son and his son’s associates in violation of North Carolina law.

Both father and son now face significant prison sentences for their roles in the drug trafficking operation. The case serves as a reminder of the dangers of corruption within law enforcement and the importance of maintaining public trust.
