Lee Jonathan Farber, 55, was arrested in Florida after allegedly tearing down a pro-Trump flag and political signs from his elderly neighbor’s fence, citing feelings of “intimidation.” The incident occurred on Tuesday when Farber, frustrated by the signs, removed them forcefully, causing $130 in damage to the fence.
Farber reportedly acted aggressively while his wife witnessed the scene. According to the criminal complaint, Farber had been bothered by the signs for over a year, which led to him putting up his own pro-Biden signs in response. On the day of the altercation, Farber allegedly became increasingly frustrated and “acted very radical.”
After tearing down the signs and throwing them into a nearby lake, Farber was charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief. He was arrested and booked into jail Tuesday evening but was released the following day on his own recognizance. A judge also issued an order of no contact between Farber and his neighbor, Pierce, who had filed a petition for a protection order, which was later denied by a Circuit Court judge.
Farber’s actions, which included causing damage to his neighbor’s property, highlight the ongoing tensions surrounding political symbols and expressions. The case is currently under investigation.
