Florida Couple Arrested After Airport Assault Over Denied Boarding

A Florida couple’s dream trip to Cancún ended in arrests instead of paradise after they allegedly assaulted American Airlines employees at Miami International Airport on March 2.

Authorities identified the suspects as Rafael Seirafe-Novaes, 40, and Beatriz Rapoport De Campos Maia, 29. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the pair became irate after arriving late for their flight and being denied boarding around 8:35 a.m.

Ignoring no trespassing signs and staff orders, the couple forced their way onto the restricted jet bridge, authorities said. Seirafe-Novaes allegedly pushed two employees, while Rapoport De Campos Maia is accused of pushing staff and throwing coffee at them.

Shocking video footage captured the altercation, showing Seirafe-Novaes being escorted in handcuffs to a police vehicle on the airport tarmac.

A spokesperson for American Airlines confirmed the incident, stating that the airline is cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation.

Both suspects now face criminal charges related to the airport assault.
