Five Kurds Arrested in Javanrud by Iranian Security Forces

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, five Kurdish individuals from Javanrud were arrested by Iranian security forces and transferred to the Naft Square Detention Center in Kermanshah. The detainees, identified as Atila Abdi, Reza Kamrani, Sattar Babayi, Zakaria Firouzbakht, and Edris Abdollahi, were reportedly detained violently without an arrest warrant.

The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has confirmed that, despite a week passing since the arrests, there is no available information regarding the detainees’ current condition or their charges.

Sources report that the arrests were conducted with excessive force, and the individuals were quickly taken to the Intelligence Department’s detention center, but their fate remains uncertain. As of the time of this report, no further details have been disclosed about the reasons behind their detention or the legal proceedings they may face. The lack of transparency has fueled concerns about the ongoing repression of Kurds in Iran.
