Five Individuals Charged in Gunpoint Home Invasion Robbery in Orange County, New York

Five individuals have been charged with participating in a violent gunpoint home invasion robbery in Orange County, New York, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. The complaint, unsealed on January 16, charges Bhupinderjit Singh, 26, of South Ozone Park; Elijaih Roman, 22, of Far Rockaway; Corey Hall, 45, of Saint Albans; Erik Suarez, 24, of Elmhurst; and Divya Kumari, 26, of Massapequa, with multiple crimes stemming from the December 1, 2024, incident.

The robbery took place at the home of a business owner, where Singh, Roman, Hall, Suarez, and Kumari allegedly stormed the residence while armed with firearms. Once inside, the suspects restrained the family—including the wife and three children—and forced the wife to open a safe. The group stole $10,000 in cash and jewelry that the homeowner had planned to use for purchasing goods for his retail stores.

Authorities were able to connect the defendants to the crime using cellphone data, surveillance footage, and text messages. The investigation revealed that Singh and Kumari had conducted surveillance of the house in the days leading up to the robbery, driving a BMW registered to Kumari. Singh’s cellphone was found at the crime scene, and it contained messages coordinating the details of the robbery.

Additionally, incriminating photographs and videos were recovered from phones linked to the suspects, including images of firearms and planning notes for the robbery.

Acting U.S. Attorney Edward Y. Kim commented on the case, stating, “Bhupinderjit Singh and his co-defendants allegedly planned and executed a violent robbery, during which four children watched as their parents were zip-tied and held at gunpoint while four men ransacked their home looking for money and valuables.”

The defendants now face charges related to the violent robbery, and law enforcement officials have expressed confidence that the case would be thoroughly pursued with the support of federal prosecutors.
