Five Foreign Nationals Arrested in Cavite Online Scam

MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced the arrest of five foreign nationals operating an online scam hub in a Cavite suburb on Tuesday.

During a raid in Kawit on August 9, NBI Cybercrime Division agents apprehended Chinese nationals Shang Guan Jian Bao, Guan Pei Hong, and Masi Yi, along with Malaysians Jenny Tan Sue Tzen and MKong Yee Xin.

Additionally, 24 Filipino workers were arrested at the site.

The illicit operation, spread across four residential houses in Grand Centennial Homes, utilized computers and electronic devices to conduct various scams, including romance, investment, cryptocurrency, and impersonation schemes, as well as credential stuffing (using stolen usernames and passwords).

The NBI reported that the workstations were operated by Filipinos under the direct supervision of the foreign nationals.

A “scam showroom” featuring counterfeit luxury items and high-end products was also discovered, designed to deceive potential victims. The scammers employed various electronic devices, including desktop computers, laptops, and mobile phones equipped with scam scripts.
