Five Drug Peddlers Arrested in Bhubaneswar, 42 kg of Ganja Seized

Maitri Vihar police successfully nabbed the gang and seized drugs.

in a significant operation on Thursday, the Maitri Vihar police in Bhubaneswar arrested five individuals involved in drug trafficking and seized 42 kg of ganja from their possession. The police team also confiscated Rs 20,000 in cash, two mobile phones, and three motorcycles.

According to a police statement, the operation was carried out following a tip-off. The police team, led by Maitri Vihar SI Sankar Bhoi, set up a trap near the BMC Wealth Center in Hatiasuni. As the five drug peddlers arrived on two-wheelers to make a deal, the officers swiftly arrested them before they could carry out the transaction.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Dillip Kumar Baral (alias Dilua), Jitendra Pradhan (alias Munda Jitu), and Prakash Khatua (alias Mithun), all residents of Saliasahi, Bhubaneswar. The other two arrested individuals are Rabindra Sahoo (alias Bapun) and Nicklesh Panda (alias Papu).

A case has been filed under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C) and 29 of the NDPS Act at the Maitri Vihar police station, and the accused have been presented in court for further proceedings.
