Five Arrested in Nil Jojo Murder Case in Rourkela

Brahmani Tarang police arrested five individuals on Thursday in connection with the murder of Nil Jojo (31), a resident of West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand. The body was discovered four days ago in a farmland near a factory dumping yard in Rourkela.

The accused include Fulmani Horo (35), Arbind Surin (42), Bakha alias Mansid Munda (25), Nirmal Topno (19), and Shunila Munda (27). The investigation began after Kalunga police received a report on June 15 about the body found near Mahavir dumping yard at Jiabahal. The deceased had sustained head injuries, with blood-stained stones found nearby, indicating a violent death.

Deputy SP Amarendra Sandha revealed that Nil Jojo had been abusing his wife, Turlen Jojo, physically and mentally since their marriage in 2010. To escape the abuse, Turlen and her sister-in-law Fulmani moved to Rourkela, where they worked as laborers. Despite this, Nil repeatedly threatened them, even following them to Rourkela multiple times.

On the day of the murder, an intoxicated Nil confronted Fulmani and some neighbors, leading to a heated altercation. The conflict escalated, resulting in a fatal assault with concrete stones.

Police have seized the weapons used in the attack and charged all five accused, including alleged mastermind Fulmani Horo, with murder. Sub-inspector M R Nayak stated that the investigation is ongoing to uncover further details.
