Five Arrested in Fatal New Year’s Eve Shooting in Adams County

Adams County, MS — A tragic shooting on New Year’s Eve has led to the arrests of five individuals in connection with the fatal incident that occurred on Finger Lane on December 31, 2024. According to authorities, one person was killed, and five others were injured in the shooting.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office launched a swift investigation, which led them to Vicksburg, Mississippi, where three suspects were apprehended at a hotel on January 1, 2025. The arrested individuals were identified as Jeremiah Clark (23), Daryl Hurts Jr. (26), and Aereia Hearron (28). All three were arrested in connection with the deadly shooting.

As the investigation continued, deputies, in cooperation with the Zachary Police Department in Louisiana, executed a search warrant at a residence in Zachary on January 8, 2025. There, they arrested Riche Jackson, 24, from Fayette, on narcotics violations. A second search warrant was also executed at a residence in Fayette with assistance from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Charges Filed Against the Suspects

Jeremiah Clark has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, one count of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Additionally, Clark is currently in custody for two separate homicides unrelated to the New Year’s Eve incident.

Daryl Hurts Jr. faces charges of murder, five counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Hurts is also serving time for a probation violation and charges of accessory after the fact in another unrelated case.

Riche Jackson is charged with murder, five counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a stolen vehicle, and accessory after the fact. Jackson is currently incarcerated for a bond revocation tied to an aggravated assault charge.

Aereia Hearron is charged with accessory after the fact and is currently in custody for a separate charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Additionally, Shartavia Johnson, 25, from Vicksburg, has been charged with accessory before the fact in connection with the shooting.

Sheriff Travis Patten confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and additional information may be released as the case progresses. The collaboration between law enforcement agencies in both Mississippi and Louisiana has been crucial in making the arrests.

This tragic event continues to shake the Adams County community, and authorities are working tirelessly to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
