FIA Arrests Six Afghan Nationals for Fake ID Fraud in Peshawar

by TNN Editor

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Peshawar Zone has apprehended six Afghan nationals involved in a scheme to acquire fake Pakistani identity cards and passports. The operation took place at the Torkham border, where officials arrested an Afghan citizen named Najeebullah, who was found with a fake Pakistani ID card and an Afghan Tazkira (national ID).

During questioning, Najeebullah disclosed that he had entered Pakistan through the Chaman border and obtained a Pakistani passport and ID card with the assistance of a Quetta-based individual identified as Qari Hafiz. Acting on this information, the FIA raided a private hostel in Peshawar, resulting in the arrest of five additional Afghan nationals. These suspects were also found in possession of fake Pakistani ID cards, passports, and Afghan Tazkiras.

Following these arrests, the FIA has initiated further operations to identify agents involved in the scheme. Preliminary investigations suggest that the detainees intended to use the counterfeit documents to travel to Saudi Arabia via Kabul.

FIA officials have indicated that they will investigate the possible involvement of employees from NADRA and the Passport Office in this illegal activity. The agency has warned that strict legal action will be pursued against anyone found responsible for creating or using fake documents.
