A man was arrested for assaulting his four-year-old daughter and throwing her into a river following a domestic dispute in Nadia on Friday. The child’s body was later recovered from the Jalangi River at Mayakol, Dhubulia.
Sources indicated that the discord between Buddha Ghosh and his wife was allegedly linked to her extramarital relationship. On Friday evening, Buddha was informed by his mother that his wife had gone to her father’s house in Samudragarh, Burdwan. He then asked his daughter to get ready for a visit to her maternal uncle’s house.
However, locals allege that Buddha took his daughter outside, violently slammed her onto the ground, and then threw her into the Jalangi River from a bridge. When questioned about his daughter’s whereabouts, he initially claimed he had left her at her maternal uncle’s home, but investigations later revealed that they never went there.
During questioning by Dhubulia police, Buddha admitted to throwing his daughter into the river. After his arrest, the child’s body was recovered from the water.
