St. Louis, MO – Curtis R. Lasky, 60, and his son, Cody R. Lasky, 25, have been charged in connection with an organized theft ring that resulted in millions of dollars worth of stolen goods, including firearms, drugs, and construction equipment.
The investigation began in August 2024, as detectives from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department uncovered a large-scale theft operation. Using informants and extensive investigation, police identified the Laskys as key players in the scheme.
On January 30, 2025, a SWAT unit executed search warrants at the Laskys’ residence and a nearby garage in the 7800 block of Michigan Avenue. During the searches, officers uncovered an arsenal of 11 firearms, including handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Additionally, over 291 grams of cocaine and other illegal substances such as morphine, Oxycodone, and amphetamine were found.
The police also recovered stolen power tools, construction equipment, a company ID badge, and other items taken from businesses across the region. Notably, items linked to the theft of eight golf carts from Getaway Carts in Benton Park were found. The stolen golf carts, valued at around $100,000, were reportedly spotted in a main street by a customer.
Investigators also found a 2013 GMC Yukon that was in the process of being dismantled in the rented garage, indicating it was being sold for parts. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Herculaneum.
Following the search, Cody Lasky fled St. Louis but was arrested on February 6, 2025, after being caught driving against traffic on Interstate 55. Curtis Lasky’s whereabouts remain unclear, but once apprehended, he too will face charges.
Both father and son have been charged with multiple offenses, including seven counts of stealing goods worth over $750, five counts of possession of controlled substances, and charges related to firearms and motor vehicle theft.
Cody Lasky remains in custody without bond. Once Curtis Lasky is in custody, he will also face the same conditions. Local business owner Joe Piantanida, whose stolen golf carts were recovered, expressed gratitude to the police for their swift actions. He credited the work of St. Louis City PD and local detectives for recovering the stolen merchandise.
The investigation continues, and police have not confirmed whether additional suspects are involved in the theft ring.
