Fatehabad Police Arrest District Sports Officer and 3 Others in D-Grade Certificate Scam

In a significant development, the Fatehabad police have arrested a District Sports and Youth Programme Officer along with three others for their involvement in a scam that saw fraudulent D-grade certificates being issued to secure government jobs under the sports quota.

The accused individuals have been identified as Makhan Singh, Mahavir, Rahul, and Rajendra Singh Berwal. The police took action after receiving a complaint from Inspector Richpal Singh of the CM Flying Team on April 21, 2023. The complaint led to an in-depth investigation which revealed that in 2019-20, the District Sports Officer had issued 122 sports gradation certificates. Of these, 109 were classified as Grade C and 13 as Grade D, which were later used by the accused to help individuals secure government jobs.

The police discovered that these fraudulent D-grade certificates played a pivotal role in helping the applicants get employment in various government departments. The arrested individuals are being charged with a series of offenses, including cheating and forgery, as part of the ongoing investigation.

The authorities are now scrutinizing further details regarding the scam and investigating if any more fake certificates were issued, with plans to track down all beneficiaries of the fraudulent scheme.
