Fargo Man Arrested for Package Theft and Burglary After Surveillance Identifies Him

On November 11, 2024, Fargo police responded to a report of a package theft and break-in that occurred overnight between November 7th and 8th at an apartment complex in the 200 block of 4th Ave. N.

Surveillance Video Leads to Arrest
According to police, surveillance footage captured a man wearing a brown Carhartt hat and carrying a black backpack using a screwdriver to break into the building. The man was seen opening several packages and stealing items, before leaving the scene on a white e-bike.

E-Bike Identified Suspect
A week later, on November 18th, officers recognized a man matching the description, notably due to the distinctive e-bike. Fargo police were able to stop 31-year-old Anthony Gordon and ask him some questions. Upon searching his backpack, police found several stolen items that matched the items seen in the surveillance footage.

Charges Filed Against Gordon
Gordon was arrested on charges of burglary, criminal mischief, and theft. Additionally, he had an outstanding warrant. Gordon, who maintains his innocence, later contacted Valley News Live to deny any involvement in the crime.

Ongoing Investigation
The case highlights how effective surveillance footage and police recognition of unique items, like the e-bike, can be in solving property crimes. As the investigation continues, Gordon’s claims of innocence will be addressed in court.
