On July 18, the West Bengal Police apprehended Saddam Sardar, a dealer of fake gold idols, who had previously evaded arrest by escaping through an underground passage during a police raid.
Baruipur Police Superintendent Palash Chandra Dhali confirmed that Sardar was arrested in Kultali, located in the South 24 Parganas district. Authorities discovered he had been hiding in a fishery.
Sardar’s arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into fraudulent gold idol sales, underscoring the police’s commitment to combating such scams in the region.
