Ex-Convict Alhassan Isa Arrested for Car Theft in Jigawa

The police in Jigawa have arrested Alhassan Isa, a former convict, for allegedly stealing a car in the Jahun Local Government Area (LGA) on February 21. According to the state police public relations officer, SP Lawan Shiisu, the theft was reported by the car owner, Abdurrahman Sadiq, who works at the Nigeria Institute of Oil Palm Research (NIFOR).

Sadiq discovered his Mazda 323 missing from outside his home in Aujara village after forgetting the car key inside overnight. He immediately reported the theft to the Dutse Police Division. Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Dutse Division and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) launched an investigation.

After a thorough inquiry, authorities arrested Isa, a resident of Shuwarin Village, Kiyawa Local Government Area, and recovered the stolen Mazda. During questioning, Isa admitted to stealing the vehicle, and further investigation revealed that he is an ex-convict, with a history of motorcycle and tricycle theft.

Isa is facing several charges and will be arraigned in court once the investigation is completed. His arrest highlights the ongoing efforts to curb theft-related crimes in the region.
