Evalyn Reed Faces Felony Charges for $21,745 Fraudulent Claims

A criminal complaint reveals that Davenport Police were alerted to fraudulent activity by Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) on February 7. The IWD reported that Evalyn Reed, 44, deliberately submitted 51 fraudulent weekly claims for unemployment benefits between March 15, 2020, and March 13, 2021, totaling $21,745. Reed is also accused of intentionally withholding $19,745 in earned wages during this period.

Reed was arrested and charged with felony fraudulent practices. She was later released after posting a secured $10,000 bond and is awaiting her initial court appearance, as per jail records.
