Eric Hooper Sentenced to Life for Murder of Lachancey Williams

Cherokee County, Ala. (WBMA) — Eric Kyle Hooper has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2022 murder of Lachancey Williams.

Hooper was convicted of murder by a Cherokee County jury in January. The case began on March 15, 2022, when a road crew performing maintenance on Esom Hill Road in Polk County, Georgia, discovered a black truck toolbox containing a body wrapped in a tarp.

Georgia authorities identified the victim as Lachancey Williams, who had been shot twice with a shotgun. The investigation revealed that the murder took place in Cherokee County, prompting the case to be transferred to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation led to Hooper’s conviction, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the murder.
