ENUGU, Nigeria – The Enugu State Police Command has successfully dismantled an interstate criminal syndicate involved in armed robbery and financial fraud.
According to DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the police spokesman, the breakthrough came through coordinated operations conducted by the Emene Police Division, Crack and Octopus Tactical Squads, and the Neighbourhood Watch Group. The operation led to the arrest of eight suspects, who were reportedly involved in various criminal activities across states.
The arrested suspects include: Ismaila Isah (23), Sadik Ahmed, a dismissed soldier (28), Abbas Usman (33), Mubarak Garba (24), Abubakar Haruna (23), Abubakar Sani (32), Obiri Chukwuebuka (22), and Bright Omeniru (22).
During the operation, law enforcement recovered a range of items linked to the syndicate’s criminal operations. These included two locally made pistols, a live and expended cartridge, ₦300,450 in cash, ten laptops, land documents, ten mobile phones, assorted jewelry, watches, an MP-3 player, headphones, power banks, footwear, bags, and two SIM cards.
Ndukwe confirmed that the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded. The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the operatives for their success and urged them to maintain pressure on criminal activities, particularly during the festive season.
