Employee Arrested for Stealing CPUs and Hard Disks Worth Rs2.48 Lakh

Police arrested an employee of an examination centre for allegedly stealing CPUs and hard disks valued at Rs2.48 lakh on Tuesday. The accused, Nitesh Sahu, was also found to have sold some of the stolen accessories to another person, who was subsequently arrested.

According to ACP (Sanyogitaganj) Tushar Singh, the complaint was filed by Chandan Raghuvanshi from Pawandham Colony. The recruitment examinations for various departments were being conducted online through a computer system at Masihi Kanya Higher Secondary School.

During an inspection of the centre’s computer equipment, it was discovered that multiple CPUs and hard disks were missing. A police case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Suspicion fell on Nitesh Sahu, an employee at the centre, who initially denied involvement. However, after psychological interrogation, he confessed to the theft and revealed he had sold some stolen items to his friend Javed Khan, a resident of Prince Colony.

Police arrested Javed Khan and recovered 26 CPUs, 60 hard disks, and 4 monitors. The total value of the recovered equipment amounts to Rs2.48 lakh.
