Five men, including Emeka Madu, have been arrested in Lagos, Nigeria, for allegedly manufacturing counterfeit malaria drugs. This information was shared in a Facebook post dated September 23, 2024.
According to the post, “FAKE DRUGS: An Igbo man Emeka Madu was arrested for making fake malaria drugs in an uncompleted building in Ikotun, Lagos. Emeka and four other Igbo men were caught at the site where they were producing these drugs to sell to Nigerians, endangering thousands of lives.”
The post features a video with a split screen: the upper section displays a still image of an unidentified man, while the lower section shows footage from Channels TV depicting police raiding the alleged drug lab and arresting the suspects. In the video, one of the men confesses to producing a malaria drug called “Domiquine.”
The prevalence of fake drugs poses a significant public health crisis in Nigeria, leading to severe consequences, including fatalities.
