BELMONT, NC – A man wanted for the attempted murder of his girlfriend in Belmont has been arrested in Jacksonville, Florida.
Elijah Lurry, 22, was the subject of a manhunt by the Belmont Police Department after the violent attack that occurred on October 12, 2024. Lurry is accused of stabbing his girlfriend at a home on East Avenue in Belmont.
The arrest took place on Monday morning, nearly two months after the incident. Lurry will be extradited to Gaston County, where he faces multiple charges, including:
Attempted First-Degree Murder
First-Degree Kidnapping (x2)
Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury
Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
Misdemeanor Domestic Violence
Misdemeanor Communicating Threats

Original Incident (October 16, 2024):
On the morning of October 12, Belmont police were notified by an off-duty officer working at Carolina Regional Medical Center (CRMC), who reported that a stabbing victim had arrived at the hospital. The victim, a woman, was stabbed by her boyfriend after an argument when they returned to her home in the early hours of October 12.
