A 42-year-old man from St. George, Elijah Heiss, has been arrested on multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct involving a minor. The St. George Police Department reported that Heiss faces three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child.
The investigation began after the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report on December 15th, regarding explicit photos discovered on a child’s phone. The phone, which belonged to a family member, was reportedly used by the child. Investigators interviewed the child, who then admitted to engaging in sexual activities with Heiss in St. George.
Heiss was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center while awaiting further proceedings in the case.
