El Paso Police Officer Gerardo Reyes Jr. Arrested for Assault

An El Paso Police Department officer, Gerardo Reyes Jr., 37, was arrested on April 1 on suspicion of assaulting a family member and interfering with an emergency call, authorities confirmed.

Charges and Arrest
Sheriff’s deputies took Reyes into custody, charging him with:

Two counts of assault causing bodily injury to a family member

One count of interfering with an emergency request for assistance

Officials did not release further details about the alleged assault. Court documents were also unavailable at the time of the report.

Bail and Release
Reyes was booked into the El Paso County Jail with a total bond set at $12,500. He was released later the same day after posting bail.

The El Paso Police Department has not yet issued a statement regarding Reyes’ arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
